Barrick Gold Corp.'s North Mara and Bulyanhulu gold mines in Tanzania have increased their combined output to 547,000 ounces in 2022, moving closer to achieving Tier One status.

The transition to owner-mining at North Mara and ramping up development at Bulyanhulu have improved efficiencies and productivity.

The mines have been recognised for their contributions to Tanzania's socio-economic development and for being socially responsible. Since the takeover in 2019, Barrick has invested $2.4 billion into the Tanzanian economy, paying $303 million in taxes, royalties, levies, dividends, and shareholder loan repayments in 2022.

The mines prioritise local employment, with a workforce that is 96% Tanzanian, and have invested over $10 million in community development projects.
